I have been a strong believer for quite a while now that the mainstream media is leftist and distorts the news but what I saw today was so blatant...and unfortunately typical. I was home from work today due to illness and watched the news on Fox throughout the day. They reported Kofi Annan's statements at the U.N. this morning about both Israel and Hezbollah.
According to todays' article in the
Washingtonpost.com, Annan stated:
"In his remarks to the council, Annan criticized both Israel and Hezbollah for their actions since the July 12 abduction of two Israeli soldiers. Annan made clear that his priority was helping the Lebanese people and preventing more civilian casualties.
"Both the deliberate targeting by Hezbollah of Israeli population centers with hundreds of indiscriminate weapons and Israel's disproportionate use of force and collective punishment of the Lebanese people must stop," he said." See the entire article here.
While I am no Kofi Annan fan, he clearly condemns both sides in this conflict. So, I was interested when this story came up first on my local NBC station, KARE11. The anchor clearly presented the whole statement by Annan. This is called journalism. Then on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, Williams only reiterated Annan's remarks about Israel and completely omitted his condemnation of Hezbollah.
This is not journalism. This is editorializing by omission.
