I've been aware for quite some time of the moral decay that is happening in this country. You can watch it get worse with each new television season. Shows like "Three's Company" and "Married With Children" seem downright innocent compared to what are big hits on TV today. I thought I was somewhat immune to the sleaze on TV as I avoid it like the plague.
But I was shocked last week when I watched "America's Got Talent"...a family talent show hosted by Regis Philbin...and the three judges got to bring back their favorite act that hadn't won the popular vote by America. David Hasselhoff thought it would be cute to bring back a drag queen who stripped down to a lime-green, skin-tight, barely there outfit. He pranced around and in front of an audience made up mostly of families and small children, bent over with his butt towards the audience and did his hoola-hoop act. The camera showed several small girls cover their eyes with shock. Several mothers looked pale too.
David Hasselhoff thought it was hilarious. When the act was over, the drag queen laid down on the stage in a suggestive posed and made sexual threats to the judges who just took it with a wink and a nod.
This show was not live. It had been taped and edited. The producers wanted us to see this and wanted our children to be exposed to this vulgarity and depravity. This is what it has come down to folks....small children being purposefully exposed to a drag queen stripper on prime-time TV.
Agenda-driven? I would bet money on it.
