I don't get it. If a gang of caucasian brunette females committed murder and the police didn't stop and question me, they would not be doing their job. If I've got nothing to hide, then it shouldn't bother me. I would hope the police would be thorough enough to question all persons fitting the profile to prevent further loss of life.
For five years of this Administration since September 11th, the Transportation Secretary, Norman Mineta refused to profile because of the internment of Japanese during WWII. I understand his sensitivity to that difficult time in history but these are different times. We face a different enemy who use terror to spread their religion of "peace."
Norm is gone now. We've had several close calls recently thanks to good detective and intelligence work in the U.S. and the UK. But we aren't always going to be that lucky. It's going to take even bolder tactics, without losing our civil rights, to keep us safe. Profiling does not take away someone's civil rights. Any American who fits the profile but is innocent should thank God they live in a country where they have freedom and security and should be a part of the solution, not the problem.
